TJ Scotton is a sophomore studying Political Science and African/African American studies at WashU. He decided to become a Peer Financial Educator due to his desire to give others an opportunity to learn about finances in a way that was not offered to him in his community. He believes that everyone is entitled to financial education, and that having such education is vital to the foundation for future life aspirations. TJ is impassioned about public speaking, building personal connections, and adequately mentoring by uplifting his sphere of influence through his work. To TJ, financial well-being means making the easy things hard and the hard things easy when it comes to finances, such as making difficult actions such as budgeting or planning ahead as automated as possible. Independent of finance and education, TJ loves being active in his community, living a jovial life, and staying physically active.
